About the application of activated alumina in air purification and formaldehyde removal

1. Characteristics and application of activated alumina

Activated alumina is a porous, highly dispersed inorganic material, which has shown wide application value in many fields with its unique physical properties. Its rich internal microporous structure gives activated alumina a huge specific surface area, which enables it to effectively adsorb and separate impurities in gases and liquids, making it a leader in the field of adsorbents.

By loading a catalyst with formaldehyde removal activity, activated alumina can efficiently decompose formaldehyde in the air into harmless carbon dioxide and water. Activated manganese catalysts and copper-manganese composite oxide catalysts are two common formaldehyde removal catalysts loaded on activated alumina.

These catalysts can take advantage of the porous structure and specific surface area of activated alumina to improve the adsorption and catalytic decomposition efficiency of formaldehyde. Under appropriate temperature and humidity conditions, these composite materials can quickly oxidize formaldehyde in the air into harmless substances, thereby effectively improving indoor air quality.
